Laver Bariu

The ancient, polyphonic singing tradition of southern Albania, where one voice rides above a vocal drone (the ISO), continues to be preserved through the playing of multi-instrumentalist Laver Bariu . The boy of a vocalist and llaute (Albanian lute) participant, Bariu was motivated with the music that he noticed his dad play every night. Although he primarily wished to play the gajde (bagpipe), his family’s lack of ability to afford a musical instrument led him to develop one of is own own. Viewing his perseverance, his father decided to instruct him to try out the llaude. Bariu afterwards built his very own drum established. Bariu’s progress being a musician was setback after Germany invaded Albania in 1939. His hometown was burnt four moments — once with the Italian Fascists and 3 x with the Nazis. The battle, however, got a bright aspect as well. Whenever a Greek clarinetist shifted to Permet to flee the turmoil between Italy and Greece, Bariu was recruited to try out drums and daf (huge tambourine) within a music group that performed nightly at an area club. His dad decided to play llaute using the group. The knowledge had a deep influence on Bariu as he became significantly fascinated with the clarinet. Briefly shifting to Korce, he started using clarinetist Vangiel Leskoviku, who trained him many music. Time for Permet, Bariu shaped his first music group. A lot more than four years afterwards, he still continued to be active. Tracks From the town of Roses premiered in 1996.
