Bay Area golf swing diva Lavay Smith incorporates blues, New Orleans R&B, salsa, leap blues and bebop into her two information with her music group, the Crimson Hot Skillet Lickers: 1 HOUR Mama and Everybody’s Talkin’ ‘Bout Miss Point!!!. Smith began performing in 1988 with an L.A. trio known as Bogrumpus, which presented pianist/arranger Chris Siebert; by the next 12 months, Siebert and Smith relocated to SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA and started building the Skillet Lickers’ lineup, which include tenorist Robert Stewart, a Wynton Marsalis protege, altoist Expenses Stewart, upright bassist Nathan Bing, drummer Sly Randolph, guitarist Charlie Siebert and bass trombonist Larry Leight. The group toured the united states and Europe regularly before recording 1 HOUR Mama in 1996. The recording as well as the group’s shows had been critically acclaimed in magazines like The SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA Chronicle, Downbeat, Jazziz, Blues Revue and LA Magazine. After even more touring and looks at blues and jazz celebrations, Lavay Smith & The Crimson Sizzling Skillet Lickers came back making use of their second recording Everybody’s Talkin’ ‘Bout Miss Thing! that was released in springtime 2000 by San Francisco’s Body fat Note Records.
