Biography
Along with his enthusiasm for jazz and technical mastery from the piano, France-born Laurent Coq has attracted acclaim on both sides from the Atlantic. Living between Paris and NY, Coq continues to execute using a Parisian trio offering tenor saxophone participant Davil El-Malek and viola participant Oliver Zanot, and a fresh York-based quartet offering tenor saxophonist Jerome Sabbagh, dual bass participant Brandon Owens, and drummer Damion Reid. Playing piano because the age group if seven, Coq gained a silver medal to wait the Country wide Academy of Arts in 1988. Choosing to wait C.We.M. in Paris rather, he spent 2 yrs balancing his research with playing within a trio offering Jules Bikôkô bi Njami and Daniel Garcia Bruno and functioning being a sideman for the Paris Barcelona Golf swing Connection, the Bocquel Connection, and French vocalist Marcel Kanche. Finding a grant in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1994, Coq journeyed to NY to review with John Hicks, Mulgrew Miller, and Bruce Barth, who continued to create his first two albums, Jaywalker and Changeable. Coq produced his debut being a manufacturer in 2001 overseeing the documenting of French songstress Laurence Allison’s record Thelonious and Bud Jointly Again.
