Affectionately referred to as the “Barbra Streisand of Tejano music” and “La Reina de la Onda Tejano (Queen from the Tejano Wave),” Laura Canales is among the most successful artists to emerge from the borderlands between Texas and Mexico. The receiver of twelve Tejano music honours, including Feminine Entertainer of the entire year and Feminine Vocalist of the entire year, in 1981, she’s remained among Tejano’s most significant vocalists. Her 1977 record, Snowball And Firm, reached the tenth placement on Billboard’s “Sizzling Latin” graphs, while her 1990 recording, No Regrets, continued to be on the graphs for 13 weeks. Canales released her music profession, like a visitor vocalist for Los Unicos, soon after graduating from senior high school in 1973.
