Last Dance

Last Dance were among the many short-lived acts in the first 4AD steady. Their discography contains one lone melody, the seven-minute “Malignant Appreciate.” A rambling type of doomy post-punk in the vein of Siouxsie as well as the Banshees, it had been released on 4AD’s Presage(s) compilation in 1980. The compilation highlighted Modern British and obscuros like Spasmodic Caress and Psychotik Tanks. When the label reissued Natures Mortes — their previously Japanese-only sampler dating from 1981 — they included a number of the monitors from Presage(s), like the Last Dance entrance. The band contains vocalist/keyboardist Soozy Bowler, bassist PPP, and guitarist Phil Roberts.
