Larry Miller

In his children’s-music guise Mister Laurence, Larry Miller aimed to provide kids a richer, more difficult musical encounter, while still offering the type of light-hearted fun they anticipated. It was an extended and unpredictable trip for Miller compared to that musical destination. A indigenous of Ann Arbor, MI, Miller had taken piano and clarinet lessons as a kid, and later trained himself electric guitar, bass, drums, accordion, and kazoo. As an adolescent, he often performed music along with his brothers Ben and Roger, collaborating with them in much psychedelic rock-band called Sproton Level beginning around 1969. In the past due ’70s, both Larry and Ben performed in the avant-garde semi-punk rock-band Destroy All Monsters (Larry taken care of electric guitar), while Roger visited Boston and led the seminal choice rock band Objective of Burma. After Destroy All Monsters split up, Larry performed on / off with many Michigan rings; he also reunited with Ben and Roger in the ’90s for the free-form experimental rock and roll from the trio M-3, and used the classic-style Detroit rock and roll collective the Clear Established. In 1998, partially motivated by his three daughters, Miller produced the change to children’s music, and started executing as Mister Laurence in a number of local locations: night clubs, bookstores, radio, etc. His first Compact disc, Flaghorn, premiered in the springtime of 1999, so that as he do on all of the follow-ups, Miller performed all the equipment on the support monitors (in his live performances, he sang along to them karaoke-style). The follow-up Tugboat Tow made an appearance in the springtime of 2000, and was accompanied by What RISES Must DROP, Vol. 1, a cassette-only compilation of tracks from both existing Mister Laurence albums. In 2001, Miller released The Verge, an hour-long little bit of ambient music made to place children (and their parents) to rest. 2002 brought Pancake Heaven, that was quickly pulled from shops due to feasible September 11 organizations; it had been re-released as the somewhat reconfigured Bubble Property.
