Having a tone that this dean of American jazz critics, Leonard Feather, referred to as “velvety and silky,” Larry Douglas has ruled as you of San Francisco’s top trumpet/flugelhorn players for a lot more than three decades. Furthermore to leading his personal electro-acoustic group, the Larry Douglas Alltet, Douglas spent some time working with such stellar music artists as Freddie Hubbard, Chuck Berry, Albert Collins, Sunlight Ra and Rufus and Carla Thomas. As an associate of Johnny Otis and His Orchestra, his playing was presented on four albums like the Grammy-nominated Soul Of The Dark Territory Rings. His debut single recording Dedications, released in 1985, received an excellent response from followers in Europe as well as the Eastern Bloc.
