Larrikin Love

Providing an aggressive make of folk-rock that recalls the brash energy from the Pogues having a musical highlight more sophisticated British than traditional Celtic (laced with traces of ska, calypso, and punk), London’s Larrikin Like also embraced a number of poetic lyrical set ups (Oscar Wilde and George Orwell had been often cited as affects) and will be offering enough rock and roll action to create them critical favorites. Shaped in 2005, Larrikin Like were released by siblings Edward Larrikin (vocalist and lyricist) and Micko Larrikin (electric guitar), joined up with by bassist Alfie Ambrose and drummer Coz Kerrigan; Rob Skipper, officially an associate from the Holloways, was also a regular guest on the group’s displays. After early gigs resulted in press publicity in New Musical Express, Larrikin Appreciate agreed upon on with Transgressive Information, an up-and-coming indie label whose roster included the Pipettes, the Rumble Whitening strips, Ladyfuzz, and Fight. Transgressive released Larrikin Love’s initial one, “Six Queens” b/w “Small Boy Shed,” in nov 2005, and three even more followed prior to the group’s initial record, The Independence Spark, found its way to shops in Sept 2006, written by WEA. As the record received enthusiastic testimonials and Larrikin Love’s superstar was increasing, clouds were developing on the horizon, and on, may 4, 2007, a couple of days before these were to hit the street for a display tour with six various other Transgressive works, they posted a note on their internet site announcing the group got split up, adding “all can be amicable between your four people.”
