Biography

An excellent altoist who’s a little underrated because of living in LA rather than leading that lots of periods of his own, Lanny Morgan was raised in L.A. After freelancing in NY, he came back to LA in 1969. Morgan became a active studio room musician, a long lasting person in Supersax, and a trusted soloist in big rings led by Costs Berry, Bob Florence, and Costs Holman. Lanny Morgan provides led great albums for Palo Alto (1981), V.S.O.P. (1993), and Modern (1996), and he still provides few peers on “Cherokee.”
