Biography

Like their namesake — your dog rocketed into orbit from the Soviets renowned because the first living creature to leave the earth’s atmosphere — Laika traveled the spaceways, forging a definite and wildly experimental fusion of hip-hop, jazz, electronica, dub, and Krautrock without earthly precedent. Relatively of a As well Pure label all-star group comprised of previous Moonshake vocalist/programmer Margaret Fiedler and bassist John Frenett, onetime PJ Harvey drummer Rob Ellis, and mentioned producer Man Fixsen in addition to ex-God percussionist Lou Ciccotelli and saxophonist/flutist Louise Elliott, Laika created in London through the fall months of 1993; their debut EP, Antenna, made an appearance the following summer season. Sterling silver Apples of the Moon, the group’s acclaimed full-length debut, adopted in early 1995; following a hiatus, Laika resurfaced with Seems from the Satellites in early 1997, garnering sustained critical praise. BEAUTIFUL Blues made an appearance in 2000, accompanied by Wherever I Am I Am WHAT’S Lacking in 2003.
