Biography

Dayton, OH-based wish pop quartet the Laboratory Companions formed in 1998 — vocalist/guitarist Mike Smith and drummer Matt Schulz previously teamed in Honeyburn, even though guitarist Kevin Parrett previously tenured with 10 O’Clock Scholar. Keyboardist Amy Smith, also Mike’s wife, curved out the initial lineup, which released its self-titled debut EP in 1999; the TRANSFORM IT On EP implemented a year afterwards. Schulz subsequently still left the Lab Companions to to remain with punk-pop combo Let’s Crash, afterwards drumming in Enon aswell; with brand-new drummer Ian Kaplan, the Laboratory Partners agreed upon to the best Meat label to record their initial full-length effort, the wonderful 2002 work Daystar. After completing the record, Parrett still left the lineup and was changed by another Honeyburn veterinarian, guitarist Mike Voik.
