La Orquesta Sinfonietta

La Orquesta Sinfonietta is a 35-piece orchestra led by jazz percussionist/arranger Michael Spiro and trombonist/arranger Wayne Wallace. The group was shaped in 2015 having a grant through the Institute for Advanced Research at Indiana College or university. This transcultural ensemble brought collectively the Wayne Wallace Latin Jazz Quintet, a number of the Bay Area’s most acclaimed Latin music artists, and top-flight players from Indiana University’s celebrated Jacobs College of Music. Instead of concentrate firmly on brass, woodwinds, and a tempo section, as much modern Latin jazz ensembles before them, this huge group sought to help expand reflect the very long established host to classical string custom in the brand new World’s developing musical customs. Canto America, La Orquesta Sinfonietta’s debut recording, was released by Patois Information in Feb 2016.
