La Mákina

A Dominican merengue group, La Mákina was organized by business owners Fernando Digestive tract (former bassist for Los Sabrosos del Merengue) and Orlando Santana (who used Wilfrido Vargas and Toño Rosario). Santana’s rigorous assist with the group — composing nine from the ten songs on La Mákina’s debut recording, 1996’s La Makina…A Mil, in addition to planning and producing — led to the solitary “La Reina,” a big success in merengue circles. The group released its second recording, Los Reyes del Ritmo, in Oct 1997.
