Mexican La Contra comprises 4 musicians and two dancers to provide their self-proclaimed dance design predicated on huapango and cumbia rhythms called en contra, much like la contra, in which a caller, usually dealing with several live musicians, guides people through a number of dances. La Contra debuted in November 2001 having a self-produced 13-monitor record entitled Contra Todo.
