Although he’s remembered mainly as an opera conductor because of his many recordings, Kurt Eichhorn led a quite varied career being a conductor in Germany. He researched with Hermann Zilcher on the Würtzburg Conservatory, and worked his method up through the rates of provincial homes. He produced his professional debut as an orchestral and choral conductor in Bielefeld in 1932.
