Biography

Kristin Korb is both a swinging bassist and an intermittent jazz vocalist. Originally she was a guitarist and vocalist who loved nation music; Barbara Mandrell was among her early musical heroes. Korb also analyzed piano and violin. She went to the Soundsation Jazz Camp one summer time and came aside interested in carrying out jazz. She turned from acoustic guitar to electrical bass to become listed on a vocal jazz group within the seventh quality, taking on the acoustic bass in 11th quality. Korb earned a qualification in Music Education at Eastern Montana University in 1992 and spent another two years focusing on her experts in Classical Bass Overall performance at the University or college of California at NORTH PARK. She required lessons from Bertram Turetzky who influenced her to sing and play bass at exactly the same time. In 1994, she fulfilled and started learning with Ray Dark brown, who documented her debut the next year, Presenting Kristin Korb using the Ray Dark brown Trio. Where that Compact disc has Korb simply singing, her additional recordings, for Elegance Bass and Two times K, feature her as both a vocalist along with a bassist. Korb trained jazz background, bass, as well as the vocal jazz ensemble at Grossmont Community University during 1996-2000, and was the Movie director of Jazz Research at Central Washington University or college during 2000-2002. Since shifting to LA in 2002, she’s performed at jazz celebrations, sometimes toured, and led her personal trio.
