Klaus Renft

Dubbed “the bad boy of East German rock and roll & move,” Klaus Renft epitomized youth rebellion within the Communist-controlled German Democratic Republic. Given birth to Klaus Jentzsch on June 30, 1942, in Jena, Germany, he put together the Klaus Renft Combo at age group 16, presuming his mother’s maiden name as his stage alias. Within weeks the group went afoul of GDR government bodies for its natural, frenetic rock and roll, and in 1964 its innovator dissolved the lineup, instantly forming a fresh group, the English Invasion-inspired Butlers. In response, the East German key law enforcement, the Stasi, opened up a document on Renft code-named “Wanderer,” and in 1965 prohibited the Butlers from carrying out. Renft spent another 2 yrs woodshedding, writing tunes and honing addresses of favorites like the Rolling Rocks, Led Zeppelin, and Red Floyd. Once the GDR raised its ban in 1967, Renft came back to the level with longer locks and much more contempt for Stasi expert than before. Tunes like “Autostop,” “Wer pass away Rose Ehrt” (He Who Honors the Rose), and “Der Apfeltraum” (The Apple Desire) had been scrutinized by authorities censors and followers with equivalent fervor, as well as the strength just grew when lyricist Gerulf Pannach became a member of the lineup in 1969, steering the Klaus Renft Combo in a far more explicitly sociopolitical path than previously. Finally, on Sept 22, 1975, GDR government bodies summoned Renft and his bandmates and educated them the group would officially vanish from that instant ahead. A splinter group, Karussel, quickly formed, however the Combo’s back again catalog deleted and its own gigs canceled, Renft finally fled to Western Germany, operating at radio train station Rias. Following the fall from the Berlin Wall structure, he relaunched his profession, and in 1997 released an autobiography, Zwischen Liebe und Zorn (Between Like and Anger). Renft passed away in Löhma, Germany, on Oct 9, 2006.
