Created in 1985, Ruler Face place the rock and roll back punk rock and roll in Washington, D.C.’s hardcore punk picture. The group mixed the emotionalism and extremely melodic punk design of D.C. contemporaries Scream and Dag Nasty using the hard rock and roll swagger of Truck Halen, circa David Lee Roth. The culmination of the two different designs along with vocalist Tag Sullivan’s soulful crooning and bluesy harmonica jams, not forgetting the group’s restricted musicianship managed to get easy to understand why King Encounter stood out between the remaining D.C. punk music picture. The dread-locked and extremely charismatic Sullivan penned lyrics which were a departure through the political message normal with most D.C. punk groupings at that time and only a far more poetic and philosophical prose that is at a course of it’s very own. Guitarist Patrick Bobst got a genuine flair for setting up flanger-laden riffs that once again evoked the nature of Truck Halen within their leading. While bassist Andrew Rapoport and Drummer Larry Colbert anchored down the group’s melodic high-energy audio. The music group recorded their initial self-titled debut record in Apr of 1986, that was made by Ian Mackaye at Internal Ear canal studios and released with the music group itself. In 1989 the group released their second record Everywhere You Appear in the Dutch punk label Konkurrel. Quickly there following the music group known as it quits. After that in 1995 Ruler Face, together with Dischord Information, put together and released a self-titled anthology, including previously unreleased and compilation paths. Nov 1996 noticed the return Ruler Face by means of a string of reunion displays within their hometown of D.C. aswell as in NEW YORK.
