Kine Lam

The mbalax music tradition of Senegal is blended with influences of rock, jazz, and reggae to make the exciting sound of Kine Lam. With her gutsy vocals established to the extremely percussive accompaniment of her horn-driven music group, Lam musically expresses the wonder and attraction of her indigenous land. In an assessment of her American debut record, Compliment, released in 1996, The Defeat wrote, “(Lam is normally) today’s griot documenting for posterity a snapshot of Senegalese background.” Initially getting interest in 1979, when she became the business lead vocalist on the Daniel Sorono Country wide Theater, Lam continues to be performing being a soloist because the early ’90s.
