Classically trained harp player Kim Robertson has made her greatest mark since turning her focus on the Celtic harp. Furthermore to recording many memorable single albums, Robertson offers released seven books of Celtic harp preparations and two instructional video clips. Her discography contains many meditative musical tapes documented with vocalist and Kundalini Yoga exercises pupil, Singh Kaur. Robertson acquired little connection with Celtic music before middle-’70s. Although she possessed a little Celtic harp and subscribed to Folk Harp Journal, she didn’t become utilized with the harp’s folk custom until participating in a harp workshop, hosted by Christina Tourin, Derek Bell from the Chieftains, and pedal harp instructor and historian Roslyn Rensch, in Vermont. Motivated with the workshop, she begun to explore the entire selection of Celtic harp music. Although she learned the traditional repertoire, her knowledge of improvisation allowed her to broaden over the instrument’s traditional function. Learning piano at age eight, Robertson turned towards the pedal or orchestral harp during her mature year of senior high school. Enrolling in university being a music main, Robertson switched towards the French section. She spent 2 yrs in France within a study-abroad plan. Shifting to Santa Barbara, CA, in 1979, Robertson quickly seduced interest with her innovative playing. Her debut record, Breeze Shadows, masterfully mixed traditional Irish music and primary compositions.
