Long Isle hardcore punks Get rid of Your Idols met up in past due 1995 around vocalist Andy Western and guitarist Gary Bennett II, two friends who’d developed enamored with both ’80s NYHC and bands like Dark Flag, 7 Mere seconds, Negative Strategy, the Descendents, and Poison Idea. They debuted having a 12″ EP on regional indie non-e of the aforementioned, which became successful around their hometown picture and sparked the music group to begin with touring all over the country. Quickly enough, Destroy Your Idols experienced authorized with Blackout! Information, liberating the eight-song THAT IS Just the start in early 1999, and which Western and Bennett had been curved out by bassist Paul Delaney and drummer Jim; second guitarist Brian Meehan later on joined on aswell. The band performed out rounds of displays with likeminded hardcore models (i.e., H20, Indecision, Child Dynamite, Ensign, the Casualties, etc.), establishing a nice hype for his or her June 2000 full-length Zero Gimmicks Required. Though Destroy Your Idols continuing to turn mind in underground circles, they reached a minimal stage themselves and nearly imploded the next year. They eventually managed to keep it together sufficiently to printer ink a cope with SideOneDummy Information in-may 2001. Their sophomore work, Funeral for a sense, appeared another month and the people supported it on the highway with Great Riddance and Loss of life by Stereo, transferring up an area in the summer’s Warped Tour to take action. Drummer Raeph Glicken, previously of S.F.A., still left Wipe out Your Idols in nov 2002 (he’d been with them since 1999), as well as the able Vinnie Worth (of Warzone, Gray Area, no Redeeming Social Worth fame) shortly stepped in in back of the kit. And a couple of full-lengths, Wipe out Your Idols released countless EPs, live information, and splits over their profession, including albums using the Nerve Agencies, Crime in Stereo system, Full Speed Forward, Great Riddance, and 7 Secs, amongst others. In 2004, Mike DeLorenzo (ex-C.R., Milhouse) agreed upon on to completely replace Delaney on bass, simply because he was away to focus full-time on his various other band, None Even more Black. Eliminate Your Idols’ following album didn’t show up until 2005 once the men released From Companionship to Competition, once again through SideOne. After that in past due 2006, the bandmembers announced they might be splitting up after some last shows the next May, the final taking place back on Long Isle.
