Kiddus I

b. Frank Dowding, St. Mary, Jamaica, Western Indies. Kiddus I originated from a middle income background and in the beginning used a hippie life-style before transforming to Rastafari. In the beginning of the 70s he opened up an ital grocery that attracted several musicians who have been recording around Kingston, including Jacob Miller, Zap Pow, UNDER-DEVELOPED and Gregory Isaacs. It had been Isaacs who motivated Kiddus I to go after a profession in music, even though singer had currently recorded a program with Joel Gibson in the first 70s. Kiddus I used to be later recruited being a vocalist in Ras Michael AS WELL AS THE Sons Of Negus. Using the group he performed over the Jamaican strike ‘Non A Jah Jah Kids’, that highlighted on 1975’s Rastafari made by Tommy Cowan. In 1976, Kiddus I used to be recruited to set up interviews with several Jamaican essential performers for Reggae Bloodlines, an early on publication that helped introduce their music towards the American mainstream.
