Kid Rena

An early Fresh Orleans star, Kid Rena’s abilities are generally lost to background. He performed in the same Waif’s House Music group as Louis Armstrong and in 1919 he changed Armstrong in Child Ory’s music group. Unlike Armstrong, Rena mainly remained in New Orleans throughout his lifestyle (although he went to Chicago several times in the 1920s). Rena led his personal groups, shaped the Pacific Brass Music group, and was frequently featured using the Tuxedo Brass Music group. He was energetic until 1947 when poor health pressured his retirement. Sadly, Kid Rena just had one documenting program (in 1940) and he’s very subpar through the badly recorded shows (sounding as though he had been 82 instead of 42), departing today’s listeners without any reason to keep in mind him, but his contemporaries do think extremely of his skill.
