Kevin Toney

A world-renowned jazz saving designer and musician, composer/pianist Kevin Toney’s music addresses a broad selection of styles and it is timeless and vintage yet always modern. Born and elevated in Detroit, Michigan, he went to the exclusive Cass Technical SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL and performed with lots of the city’s best jazz music artists including Marcus Belgrave and Donald Walden. His early musical affects included a variety of Bach, Debussy, Chopin, Artwork Tatum, McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock, Kilometers Davis, and John Coltrane. While still students at Howard School — where he’d afterwards receive his B.A. in structure and jazz research — Toney was uncovered by trumpeter and jazz research department mind Donald Byrd, who gather several his best learners; Toney became the first choice of the groundbreaking jazz fusion group known as the Blackbyrds. Furthermore, Toney provides showcased his musical flexibility being a conductor and arranger for top level recording and executing artists including Adam Ingram, Patti Austin, Stevie Question, Babyface, Enrique Iglesias, Brian McKnight, Tyrese, Ja-Rule, Musiq Soulchild, Edwin Hawkins, Gloria Gaynor, Michael McDonald, Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr., Freda Payne, and Expenses Withers. He offers offered as conductor and arranger for theatrical productions of Ain’t Misbehavin’, Five Men Named Moe, Advanced Ladies, Harlem Collection, Wild Ladies Blues, The Magic of Motown (A Tribute to Berry Gordy), and Atlanta.
