Kevin Olusola

Cellist, vocalist, and beatboxer Kevin “K.O.” Olusola is most beneficial known as an associate from the a cappella vocal ensemble Pentatonix. Created in Pasadena, California in 1988 to a Nigerian-born dad and Grenadian-born mom, Olusola first started to play music at age group four with piano lessons. At age group six he began acquiring cello lessons, with age group ten added the saxophone. Throughout quality school and senior high school, Olusola was seriously involved with all of the different college ensembles, from orchestra and concert music group to marching music group and jazz music group. He also searched for many extracurricular musical actions, including playing primary saxophone with america Collegiate Blowing wind Band’s tour of European countries and winning an area to execute at Carnegie Hall within the American Good Arts Event. After senior high school, Olusola went to Yale, where he researched premed while also carrying on to pursue his musical goals, including playing cello as an associate from the Yale Symphony Orchestra. Nevertheless, it had been while on an abroad program learning in Beijing, China, that he created his exclusive “celloboxing” technique, that involves, essentially, beatboxing rhythmic patterns while playing his cello. After time for Yale, the technique helped earn him the runner-up place in competition shown by famed cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Influenced, Olusola started uploading YouTube video clips of himself carrying out cover music in his special celloboxing design. In 2011, Olusola’s video cover of cellist Tag Summer’s “Julie-O” proceeded to go viral and captured the interest of vocalist Scott Hoying, who asked Olusola to become listed on his up-and-coming a cappella ensemble, Pentatonix. Weekly after graduating Yale, Olusola became a member of Pentatonix and auditioned for period three of NBC’s truth vocal competition The Sing-Off. Pentatonix eventually won your competition and agreed upon a recording agreement with Sony Music. Olusola provides appeared on most of Pentatonix’s albums including PTX, Vol. 1 (2012), PTXmas (2012), and PTX, Vol. 2 (2013), that he co-wrote three music. In 2015 Olusola released his debut single EP, Renegade, which additional showcased his exclusive traditional, pop, hip-hop, and electronica-influenced mixture of cello playing, beatboxing, and performing.
