Kevin Bowyer

Biography

British organist Kevin Bowyer studied in the Royal Academy of Music from 1979 to 1982. During this time period, his affects ranged from avant-garde organist Christopher Bowers-Broadbent towards the harpsichordist Virginia Dark. He later analyzed with organist David Sanger. He quickly obtained notoriety for development lengthy and hard recitals, presenting the entire body organ symphonies of Widor, Vierne, and Dupré. In 1983, Bowyer received the St. Albans International Body organ Event competition, and the next year he offered his debut recital in the Royal Event Hall, London. In 1990, he received first prize within the body organ contests at Dublin, Odense, Paisley, and Calgary. From 1989 until 1998, Bowyer was organist from the Parish of Warwick, but remaining this placement to pursue a profession like a soloist. He’s a champion from the functions of Sorabji, whose body organ works he offers documented and edited.
