Although it’s still extremely early in her recording career, origins rock singer Kerri Capabilities continues to be compared in the press to such renowned artists as Shelby Lynne, Lucinda Williams, Rosanne Cash, Tammy Wynette, and Bonnie Raitt, amongst others. A Boston indigenous, Capabilities’ desire for music stemmed from hearing nation music in her father’s electrical company pickup truck at age five, which ultimately led her to a musical profession. Capabilities has gone to talk about the concert stage with such acclaimed performers as Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Jimmy LaFave, Dan Hicks & His Sizzling Licks, Dave Mallet, and Luka Bloom, amongst others. Capabilities’ debut recording, You, Me and a Redhead, was released within the Leopard Pores and skin label in 2001, which merged honest and heartfelt lyrics with components of spirit, blues, pop, zydeco, and nation; and featured efforts from your Swinging Steaks’ bassist Paul Kochanski and guitarist Steve Sadler, plus drummer Craig MacIntyre and keyboardist Bob Malone.
