Biography
Acquiring their name from a passage in Henry Rollins’ memoir Enter the Van, KEN mode (brief for Eliminate Everyone Now) certainly are a Canadian noises rock-band hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Brothers Jesse and Shane Matthewson, the band’s two constant members (who deal with electric guitar/vocals and drums, respectively), possess curved out their amounts with an illustrious assortment of bassists, including Electro Quarterstaff’s Drew Johnston, Mares of Thrace’s Thérèse Lanz, and Khann’s Andrew LaCour (to mention several). Using a punishing metallic audio, the music group expands in the solid base laid down by AmRep titans just like the Jesus Lizard and Unsane, harnessing those rings’ feeling of hostility and agitation while significantly upping the strength. KEN mode produced their full-length debut in 2003 with Mongrel, released by Get away Musician, which would also continue release a their sophomore work, Reprisal, in 2006. A self-released third record, Mennonite, implemented in 2008. 2 yrs later, KEN setting installed with influential steel label Profound Lore, which released their 4th record, Venerable. The record would end up being a breakthrough for KEN setting, who gained the first-ever Juno within the rock category. Their 5th album, Entrench, found its way to 2013 on Period of Mist. Exactly the same label released the group’s Steve Albini-recorded 5th album, Achievement, in 2015.
