Active because the early ’80s, bassist Ken Filiano has since contributed to a large number of albums, many of them pertaining to innovative jazz — from post-bop to free of charge improvisation. Despite his commanding degree of activity, he offers arguably yet to meet up the acknowledgement he deserves from your jazz press. Located in Brooklyn, Filiano maintains strong ties using the Western Coast. He offers documented for Nine Winds, CIMP, Knitting Manufacturing plant, and Clean Give food to, among other brands. Among Filiano’s 1st regular companions was saxophonist Steve Adams, with whom he began playing in 1980. Formative years required him through traditional and jazz repertoires, which allowed him to build up formidable technique. His involvement in Richard Grossman’s 1989 LP In the Air flow brought him the very first shards of crucial acclaim. In the starting point of the 1990s he started to show up alongside Vinny Golia and Rob Blakeslee. An associate from the Aardvark Orchestra, he in addition has performed with Bertram Turetzky, Barre Phillips, Joëlle Léandre, Bobby Bradford, Rova Saxophone Quartet, and Paul Cigarette smoker, with whom he offers recorded regularly because the past due ’90s. An educator, the bassist offers taught in the School of New Mexico (Albuquerque), NY State School (Buffalo), UCLA, and Rutgers School. In 2002 Filiano finally released his initial solo album, entitled Subvenire. The November 2010 discharge Dreams from a Clown Car proclaimed the documenting debut of Filiano’s Quantum Entanglements quartet, offering saxophonists Tony Malaby and Michaël Attias and drummer Michael T.A. Thompson.
