Ken Baldock

b. 5 Apr 1932, London, Britain. Baldock performed the piano from age six and afterwards researched piano and dual bass on the Guildhall College of Music. In 1964 he performed bass within the Peter Ruler quartet at Annie’s Area in London. He became a member of John Dankworth’s Orchestra (1965-73) and in addition caused Oscar Peterson on the 1972 Montreux Jazz Celebration and in two tv series. He previously his very own sextet in 1973, which highlighted Henry Lowther; he also performed in Ronnie Scott’s quartet with Louis Stewart, and in a number of groupings with Phil Lee and John Horler, in addition to accompanying music artists as diverse as Milt Jackson, Cleo Laine, Barney Kessel and Jay McShann. Within the 80s, he performed in Bobby Wellins’ quartet and continuing to operate freelance. He’s a trusted bass participant with a good technique who’s also an capable composer. In 1983, he was honored an Arts Council offer for his structure Kosen Rufu. He also shows both privately with the Barry Summertime College.
