Biography
Ominously referred to as “The Dark Prince of Reggae,” Keith Hudson was created right into a musical family in Kingston, Jamaica in 1946. His musical education started as Hudson worked well as sort of roadie for Skatalite and Jamaican trombone ruler Don Drummond. By age group 21, Hudson, who was simply trained being a dental practitioner, sunk his profits into his very own record label, Inbidimts, and got popular with Ken Boothe’s documenting of “OLD-FASHIONED Way.” Shortly after this graph success, the abruptly popular Hudson was creating a number of the biggest brands (and soon-to-be biggest brands) in reggae — John Holt, Delroy Wilson, Alton Ellis, and the fantastic toasters U-Roy and Dennis Alcapone, most of whom benefited from what will be Hudson’s brand production design: groove-centered, bass/drum-dominated, low fat and suggest stripped-down riddims. With the middle-’70s, Hudson started releasing more single work, striking paydirt right away along with his 1974 debut, Getting into the Dragon and his intense second record, Flesh of My Epidermis, an ominous, dark record that gained Hudson his name as reggae’s “Dark Prince.” In 1976, Hudson relocated to NEW YORK and worked virtually nonstop, producing in addition to recording solo information until 1982. He succumbed to lung tumor in 1984, at age group 38, robbing reggae of 1 its biggest, most daring, and unhearalded manufacturers and performers.
