Keep of Kalessin

Throughout their first incarnation, Norway’s Maintain of Kalessin had been made up of vocalist Ghâsh, guitarist/keyboardist Obsidian C., bassist Warach, and drummer Vyl, and released a set of quite experienced — but additionally rather usual — Scandinavian dark steel albums in 1997’s Through Situations of Battle and 1999’s Agnen: A Trip With the Dark. These he ultimately recorded by using Satyricon drummer Frost and dark steel vocalist-for-hire extraordinaire Attila Csihar (Mayhem, Aborym, etc.) and released beneath the Hold of Kalessin name as 2003’s Reclaim EP, offering three lengthy monitors of eclectically spiced dark metal. Twelve months afterwards, Grønbech and keyboardist Steinar Gundersen had been imprisoned in Canada on rape accusations while touring with Satyricon, but all fees were shortly dismissed as unfounded and, by 2006, Grønbech was prepared to to push out a third full-length Maintain of Kalessin Compact disc, Armada, featuring brand-new cohorts Thebon on vocals, Wizziac on bass, and Vyl (aka Vegard Larsen) on drums.
