Kathryn Calder

Canadian singer/songwriter Kathryn Calder already had two EPs and 4 albums in her belt with Victoria-based indie rockers Immaculate Machine before expanding her open public persona as a fresh Pornographer. When she was an adolescent, Calder found that New Pornographers frontman Carl Newman was her long-lost uncle. (Her mom, who was followed, found that her delivery mom was also Newman’s mom.) Called in to the fold on the whim to complete for co-vocalist Neko Case, who was simply amid an extremely explosive solo profession, Calder started touring using the group like a vocalist and key pad participant. She also started recording with the brand new Pornographers, you start with 2005’s Twin Movie theater, and officially remaining Immaculate Machine in 2008. 2 yrs later on, Calder released her debut single album, ARE YOU CURRENTLY My Mom?, a deeply personal, ten-song assortment of D.We.Con. indie pop and folk, documented in Victoria, English Columbia while she looked after her terminally sick mom. Calder’s sophomore work, Shiny and Vivid, premiered the following 12 months and featured visitor appearances from vocalist/songwriter Ford Pier, violinist Jesse Zubot, and Superchunk drummer Jon Wurster. In 2012, Calder embarked on the filming from the documentary A Matter of your time, which chronicled enough time she spent looking after her mom, who sadly passed away of ALS. During her significantly rare time faraway from the brand new Pornographers, she documented what will be her third studio room record. Co-produced by Calder and her hubby Colin Stewart, the self-titled record premiered by Document Under: Music in Apr 2015.
