Kasenetz-Katz Singing Orchestral Circus

The brainchild of bubblegum pop producers, Jerry Kasenetz and Jeff Katz, the Performing Orchestral Circus was a sprawling aggregation of eight groups using one record: the Ohio Express, the 1910 FruitGum Co. , Music Explosion, Lt. Garcia’s Magic Music Container, Teri Nelson Group, Musical Marching Zoo, JCW Rat Finks as well as the St. Louis Invisible Marching Music group. Together, these were responsible for among bubblegum’s more unforgettable moments using the worldwide strike, ‘Quick Joey Little’ in 1968. With an attendant selection of acrobats, clowns, fire-eaters and scantily-clad women, the circus performed a concert at Carnegie Hall using a repertoire including such strikes as ‘Last night’, ‘We COULD WORK It Out’, ‘Hey Joe’ and ‘You’ve Shed That Lovin’ Feelin’’. The prestige of the event didn’t prevent them from acquiring their place as one-hit-wonders.
