Karl Leopold Röllig

Rollig served mainly because the director from the Ackermann theatrical business in Hamburg from 1764 to 1769 and from 1771 until 1772. The device of his choice was the cup harmonica with which he toured in Germany showing up at least in Hamburg and Berlin. Rollig was worried about improving the cup harmonica that he is most widely known. The best cup necessary for the device is exactly what Rollig wanted and a system where the glass wouldn’t normally have to be handled directly from the performer. He helped to build up a keyboard however in doing this forfeit the sensitive tones from the device. As a musical instrument inventor Rollig is in charge of the orphica as well as the xanorphica. He composed treatises on device building and his compositions weren’t perfect for the cup harmonica and his displeased viewers.
