Karen Young

b. 1946, Sheffield, Britain. After employed in a record store as an adolescent, Young became thinking about the neighborhood group picture and became a member of the Counterbeats in 1964. From the past due 60s she experienced branched out like a soloist and pursuing an appearance in a north club was noticed from the Bachelors who duly launched her with their managers Dorothy and Phil Solomon. In 1969 she authorized a high 10 strike using the Scottish folk regular ‘No one’s Kid’ but didn’t follow up using the Jo Stafford / Lita Roza strike ‘Allentown Prison’. Thereafter she came back towards the cabaret circuit, but before she remaining the pop pantheon, Karen’s just strike became the main topic of warmed correspondence within the pop weeklies. Noting the radio/tv ban on Jane Birkin / Serge Gainsbourg’s ‘Je T’Aime… Moi Non Plus’ (also on Solomon’s Main Small label), one audience exclaimed: ‘Evidently the BBC feels it is even more good for her target audience to hear popular song in regards to a blind orphan, regrettably sung in British, when compared to a French track about like’.
