Karen Gwyer

Originally from Midwestern America yet surviving in London, Karen Gwyer can be an experimental techno producer whose fluid, amorphous work frequently contains components of spacy abstract pop. Mainly constructed on analog synthesizers, her music is normally warm and expressive, with gently tapping beats underpinning her droning, melodic synth pads and ethereal vocals. Gwyer was created in Iowa and elevated in Ann Arbor, Michigan before ultimately settling in London. Her initial discharge was the 2012 EP I AM You Twice, that was released by Patten’s Kaleidoscope label. She after that agreed upon to No Discomfort in Pop (which acquired released Patten’s debut record in 2011) on her behalf 2013 debut record, Requirements Continuum. Cowboys (For Karen), a cooperation with Torn Hawk, made an appearance over the label through the same calendar year, and cassette Kiki the Wormhole premiered by Opal Tapes. In 2014, No Discomfort in Pop released Gwyer’s New Roof EP, and she toured European countries with many Opal Tapes performers such as Simple Home and 1991. Her acidity techno-leaning Bouloman EP appeared on Nous in 2015. The next calendar year, Kiki the Wormhole was released on vinyl by Open public Home Recordings and Gwyer released a divide 12″ one with Beatrice Dillon on Alien Jams.
