Karen Carroll

Blues vocalist Karen Carroll was seemingly destined to get a profession in music: not merely was her mom Jeanne Carroll a blues and jazz vocalist aswell, but her godparents were guitarist George Freeman and vocalist Bonnie Lee. Delivered in Chicago on January 30, 1958, Carroll began performing at age nine, signing up for her mother’s music group being a guitarist five years afterwards; at 18 she struck from her own, slicing her tooth in small South Aspect blues joint parts and creating a deep vocal design heavily inspired by jazz phrasing along with the strength of gospel. She produced her documented debut on Carey Bell’s 1984 outing Boy of a Weapon, accompanied by the 1989 Eddie Lusk LP Teacher Strut; Carroll produced her single debut with 1995’s Experienced My Fun, coming back two years later on with Speak to the Hand.
