Kanizsa Csillagai

The ancient Boyash gypsy music of western Hungary continues to be resurrected by Kanizsa Csillagai (translated: Celebrities of Kanizsa). Led by vocalist, guitarist and dancer, Zoltan Horvath, the group radiates having a rhythmic interplay of solid wood bowls, dairy pitchers, tambourines and hypnotic mouth area music or vocal percussion. Created by five Boyash and Wallachian gypsies from Nagykanizsa, Hungary, Kaniszsa Csillagai is constantly on the reflect nearer melodic ties to Romanian music than most Hungarian Gypsy music.
