This group was specially formed to record Singa, the international debut of Idrissa Magassa (b. 15 August 1952, Kougel, Senegal; vocals, ex-Super Djata Music group). The documenting periods for the record occurred in Senegal, UK, France and Netherlands. The music artists included included Zoumana Diarra (b. 1960, Tominian, Mali; electric guitar) and Abdramane ‘Djigui’ Fall (b. 29 July 1959, Bamako, Mali; percussion/manufacturer, ex-Super Djata Music group). Released in 1996, Singa also highlighted saxophone, trumpet, balafon and keyboards. It had been refreshingly low-key and traditional-sounding in comparison to lots of the hi-tec recordings created by Western world African musicians located in European countries. Magassa, Diarra and Fall also play with Benkadi International.
