Biography

Justino Diaz initial studied in the University or college of Puerto Rico. He produced his operatic debut in 1957 as Ben in Menotti’s CALLING, and later analyzed with Frederick Jager with the New Britain Conservatory of Music in Boston. After earning the Metropolitan Opera Auditions from the Air flow he produced his debut in the Met mainly because Monterone in Rigoletto in 1963, starting a long-term association with this home. He offers sung thirty functions and given almost 300 shows there. In 1966, he produced the part of Antony in Barber’s Antony and Cleopatra around the occasion from the starting of the brand new opera home. Within the same 12 months, he produced his Salzburg debut as Escamillo in Carmen. In 1971, he produced another new part in the inauguration of another opera home, this time around as Francesco in Ginastera’s Beatrix Cenci in the Kennedy Middle Opera Home in Washington, D.C. His Covent Backyard debut was also as Escamillo, in 1976, and his La Scala debut was as Asdrubale in Rossini’s La pietra del paragone in 1982. He also made an appearance within the Zeffirelli film of Verdi’s Otello in 1986.
