Junip

Gothenburg, Sweden-based indie rock and roll clothing Junip was formed in past due ’90s by vocalist/songwriter José González. The trio, which includes González on acoustic guitar and vocals, drummer Elias Araya, and key pad participant Tobia Winterkorn, crafts dark, moody, indie folk in the vein of their founder. Junip released their debut 7″ in 2000 independently Kakafoni imprint. Araya after that spent almost five years learning artwork in Norway and Finland, while Winterkorn worked well as a instructor and González released a successful single profession. The trio regrouped for the Dark Refuge EP in 2006 and started writing and documenting in earnest after González completed promoting his recording In Our Character in 2007. The full-length result, Areas, found its way to 2010 on Mute Information. For 2013’s even more polished and even more experimental self-titled second recording, the trio documented within their practice space with help from co-producer Don Alsterberg.
