An expert very difficult bop tenor who tended to be overshadowed simply by even more innovative contemporaries, Junior Make was always a good improviser. After using Dizzy Gillespie in 1958, Make gained some popularity for his longtime regular membership within the Horace Metallic Quintet (1958-1964); when he and Blue Mitchell remaining the popular music group, Make performed in Mitchell’s quintet (1964-1969). Later on organizations included Freddie Hubbard, Elvin Jones, George Coleman, Louis Hayes (1975-1976), Expenses Hardman (1979-1981), as well as the McCoy Tyner big music group.
