Often weighed against Philadelphia-born trumpet participant Ziggy Elman (1914-1968), Julio Cueva played an important part in the evolution of Afro-Cuban music. The first choice of an extremely successful band, through the 1940s, he helped to introduce such later on Afro-Cuban celebrities as vocalist Orlando “Cascarita” Guerra and pianist/arranger Rene Hernandez. Created in Trinidad, in Apr 1897, Cueva produced his debut like a cornet participant before his tenth birthday. By his late-teens, he previously been a presented soloist using the Municipal Music group of Santa Clara and experienced toured using the Arquimedes Pous Theatre Company. Developing his personal orchestra, the Municipal Music group of Trinidad, in 1923, Cueva led the group until shifting to Havana, Cuba in 1929. He continued to be active like a trumpet participant following a move, showing up with orchestras led from the Palau Brothers, Moises Simons and Don Aspiazu. In the early-1930s, he documented with Como Oscar Calle Et Sus Orchestre Cubain. Cueva continuing to check out wherever his search for experience would consider him. After a brief trip to america, he continuing to European countries. After directing an orchestra at a Cuban tipico night time golf club in Paris for a number of weeks, in 1934, he continuing to Madrid, where he directed the Music group of the 4th Division through the Spanish Civil Battle. Time for France, following a battle, in 1939, Cueva discovered a very much different reception than five years prior. Whilst travelling in the Gallic place, he was caught and spent seventy-eight times in a focus camp. Annoyed by his encounters, Cueva came back to Cuba. Although he in the beginning resumed his much-earlier placement using the Palau Brothers, he remaining after a couple of months to create his very own group.
