Judith Blegen

Judith Blegen, an effective lyric coloratura soprano, was known for singing the high-flying, gleaming functions, like Musetta in La bohème personally, Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier, and Blondchen in Pass away Entführung aus dem Serail; she also excelled in oratorio and recital repertory. Her profession started in 1963, while still students in the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia, when she was involved to execute at Gian Carlo Menotti’s Spoleto event. (The composer would create the part of Emily in his opera Help! Help! The Globolinks! for Blegen in 1969). Covent Garden involved her for any creation of Così lover tutte in 1975, and in 1977 she produced her debut in the Paris Opera, additional cementing her worldwide reputation.
