Juan de Araujo

Though Spanish by birth, Juan de Araujo generally became named the greatest Southern American author of his time. His result, exclusively specialized in the vocal/choral world from the first and mid-Baroque period, was composed of 142 villancicos and 16 spiritual functions. But Araujo probably wrote a great many other compositions that didn’t survive. Juan de Araujo was created in Villafranca de los Barros, Extremadura, Spain, in 1646. As a kid he was used by his dad, a civil servant, to Lima, Peru. He examined at San Marcos School there in his early twenties, but Araujo most likely also had taken music instruction for this period from Tomás de Torrejón con Velasco, composer and choirmaster in the Lima Cathedral. Araujo could also possess begun finding your way through the priesthood of these years of research. Due to his involvement in students intrigue against the neighborhood authorities, Araujo was expelled from the town from the Viceroy of Peru.
