Composer and instructor of German source who also wrote numerous stage functions (operas and melodramas), sacred vocal music, orchestral symphonies and chamber music, piano functions and treatises concerning meter and rhythms, the origins of music, and a listing of his own functions. Elsner was movie director from the Opera in Warsaw where he resolved, trained many eminent performers, became the rector of the primary College of Music, and trained many composers including Chopin. Characteristics of Elsner’s music foreshadow the Polish nationwide type of music.
