Joseph Robichaux

b. 8 March 1900, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, d 17 January 1965. A nephew of John Robichaux, he performed piano in New Orleans and Chicago in the years soon after Globe Battle I. In the first 20s he was an associate of the Dark Eagle Band and in addition caused the Davey Jones- Lee Collins Astoria Sizzling hot Eight. In the first 30s he used Kid Rena and in addition formed his very own band, the brand new Orleans Rhythm Children, which stayed around until 1939. Through the 40s Robichaux proved helpful being a soloist in NY. In the 50s he was accompanist to Lizzie Mls and then joined up with the George Lewis music group, touring internationally and documenting. He continued to be with Lewis until 1964, after that came back to New Orleans where he passed away in 1965. He was a good ensemble pianist using a lively solo design.
