Jorge Reyes

This enigmatic multi-instrumentalist pulls from your diverse culture and history of his Mexican homeland, in addition to his early experiences playing in progressive-rock bands south from the border. Presently located in Mexico Town, Reyes combines flute, pre-Columbian tools, and percussion with synthesizers and tone of voice to solid a spell of ritualistic strength. Like shadows from Mexico’s sultry and savage past, his music includes a dark quality to it that occasionally scares from the unprepared, but exciting listeners will see a lot to admire in his evocation of jungles, jaguars, and Aztec rites. Though his albums tend to be difficult to acquire, the majority of his brought in releases are really worth the extra work and expense included.
