Jon Lloyd

b. 20 Oct 1958, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, Britain. Lloyd dabbled with piano at age 12, and trained himself tenor saxophone at 23. His 1st public appearances had been having a pop/spirit band within the mid-80s along with an ECM Information -influenced duo, Confluence. His 1st professional work was having a duo playing requirements on the cafe/wine-bar/pub circuit. Despite his fairly late start saxophone he is rolling out an individual design of music that’s exhibited to specifically good benefit on his 1st, privately-produced documenting. His influences consist of Jan Garbarek, John Surman, Trevor W and, ‘even more for affirmation than emulation’, Eric Dolphy, Evan Parker, Jimmy Lyons, Anthony Braxton and Arthur Blythe. He in addition has been motivated by composers Olivier Messiaen (that has inspired several nonclassical statistics, notably Mike Ratledge of Soft Machine and Mike Gibbs) and Benjamin Britten. He provides organized several valuable tries at regular locations for improvised music, like the ‘Sunlight Periods’ in Clapham, south London. Aside from his very own trio and quartet he spent some time working with Dave Fowler and in duos with Parker and Phil Wachsmann, and organizes Anacrusis, a nine-piece improvising group formulated with several major brands.
